King Street Station Awarded Another Accolade for Excellence in Design in Loudoun County
November 23, 2022 — Leesburg, VA. The Knutson Companies was recently awarded a 2022 Signatures of Loudoun Award for the King Street Station Public Plaza in Leesburg, Virginia.
The Signatures of Loudoun Design Excellence Program recognizes buildings and public spaces throughout the county that reflect outstanding design, renovation, adaptive reuse and visually groundbreaking projects. The King Street Station Public Plaza won in the category of Public Spaces which acknowledges locations that have become a favorite gathering place.
With one of the Knutson Companies’ brand pillars focused on creating neighborhoods that enhance lifestyles, the team is honored to receive this award that realizes their commitment to this goal.
King Street Station is a sold-out condominium community in Historic Leesburg that was completed in late 2021. On what was once an old strip center on South King Street, the Knutson Companies created stunning single-level homes across four condominium buildings plus this on-site public plaza to offer community members a space to gather and relax. The plaza consists of a partially-covered pavilion with seating and lush green spaces. The pavilion’s architecture was inspired by classic monitor barns and features a versatile design in which half of the roof is covered for shade while the other half is slatted to let natural light in. It overlooks the W&OD Trail and is located just outside the condominium buildings, so neighbors and friends can enjoy the beauty of the outdoors together.
